seasons gone
the cold winter chill cuts us to the bone
as brittle joints break through dying leaves
the destiny of this world through seasons sewn
with rusting limbs, shivering sighs, we continue to breathe

through the long harsh days
through the burning years
our crippled spines lead us onwards
through roaring blizzards
and through these long hard winters

despite the mountains
and despite the deserts
our faded footprints wind endlessly backwards
reminding us of how far we've come
as gentle breezes dance over everyone

we rub our hands over sandpaper skin
hoping the towering trees will forgive our sins
the river thunders past our feet
to some far off land we will never see

we are wanderers of this lonely earth
treading paths in our endless search
for answers, for meaning, for fruitless life
oh we continue through the night

with rusting limbs, shivering sighs
we continue to walk, to live, to breathe
onwards we continue through the night
